The lights flickered, casting erratic shadows across the faces of Liam and Sarah. Liam ran a hand through his hair, leaving it a mess. He felt the tension coiled in his neck, a knot that only grew tighter with each passing minute. The constant churn of projects and expectations played on a loop in his mind.

"I need air," he rasped, the words a physical effort. He leaned against the wall.

Sarah let out a sigh that seemed to deflate her. The day’s events felt like a marathon. He wished for the ability to just lay down and sleep, to escape the constant demands and pressures. The elevator’s lack of escape only exacerbated the feeling.
